By Combining a Wetting Agent Designed to Move Water with One Designed to Hold It, Golf Course Superintendent Marty Parish Eliminated LDS for an Entire Season with Less Than 5 Gallons of Material

October 10th, 2011

When I started here there were some hydrophobic areas on a few greens you could pound with a hose, stick a probe in there and find it was practically dust; about all that would get wet was the thatch. Once we started using a combination of Penterra and Humawet, we didn’t have to spend a bunch of time working those same spots because the moisture levels evened out across the entire playing surface. In fact, we ended up going the entire summer (2011) without having any problems with localized dry spots. Like a lot of guys I’d gotten used to using the “top dog” wetting agent and wasn’t looking to change brands, but once I tried the Geoponics products and saw they would do what I needed, for a lot less, I knew we would continue to use them.
